The Team

    Mojo Racing
was formed by my dad, "Smoke'n Joe" Morales, in February of 2006 - after we picked up a used IMCA modified in Fort Worth on an icy day that saw us almost wreck a truck, a trailer and the race car. We had previously raced from 1995 to 1997 at Heart O'Texas speedway in the street stock class, but shut it down after I graduated from art school in 1997.  I had all but given up the thought of ever racing again until my dad brought it up one evening. I thought he was just shoot'n the bull but as I soon realized, he was completely serious.  I soon set out to find a car, and after about a year we found a 2000 Smiley's rolling chassis we decided would be a good place to start.  She has seen a lot of action, and it took some TLC and a lot of help from family and friends to bring her back to race-worthy status, but it has definitely been a labor of love to get here.

Unfortunately, we lost my dad a year and a half ago to natural causes, but his determination and his dream of fielding this car at KSP for the '08 season is still alive a well with the team.

 DRIVER: Joe Morales

I am the car owner and driver, and have always worked on cars, not as a hobby, but as a passion. To me there is no greater competition than pitting a machine built with my own hands against others who have done the same. I raced in the street stock class at Heart O' Texas speedway in Waco, Texas from 1994 to 1997.

In that time, I learned that it takes much more than just knock'n out a car’s windows and going racing to be competitive as a racer. In 2007, I competed in the Silver State Car Classic with a friend. It is an open road race, and I plan to continue competing in this event in the future. As a team, I hope that we can grow into a solid front-runner week in and week out – this can be done with hard work, sacrifice, and above all, drive.

 CREW CHIEF:  Ted Fox

I am the owner of Classic Performance Trends and Helped start up Warpath Racing. In 2007 after talking to Smokin Joe and having a lot of the same beliefs and passions, We decided to team up and hence Misfit Motorsports was born.

From a young age, I have always worked on cars, raced cars and had an all around desire and passion to be with cars. Like Joe, I to enjoy building an engine or a car, watching and hearing it spring to life and go to action. I have raced on and off all of my life in several different venues. My most recent accomplishments are from the 2004 Pontiac Southern Nationals where I won the Hot Street division and the 2006 Texas Muscle Car Club Challenge Race of Champions win.

In 2008, Smokin Joe and I have lots of plans that we hope to carry into the present and beyond. With our passion for cars and the things we have planned, 2008 and future seasons should be full of action and work. Like Smokin Joe said, As a team, We hope that we can grow into a solid front-runner week in and week out – this can be done with hard work, sacrifice, and above all, drive.

Crew Member / Driver : Mike "Whitey" Elmore

Mike has become a very valuable member or our Misfits crew and has shown a great ability to learn on the fly and has shown the dedication it takes to be with us week in and week out.  Mike is relatively new to auto racing, but his desire and passion are apparent in what he has brought to our team.  Mike is currently building his own Dirt track car the we hope to field for the '09 season. He will run in the Street Stock class perhaps at KSP as well.  As his build comes along we will add photos of his progress as a Crew member and Driver.
